Eight (8) anglers from CARRS AC attended their annual August outing here at Woodside Fishery with anglers pegged around the Woodside pool. Conditions on the day did not make for an enjoyable match with prolonged periods of heavy rain resulting in a very wet and miserable afternoon. However, the quality of fishing on offer on the day helped brighten things up with very competitive weights being recorded.
Winner on the day was Steve Nash who drew peg 5 in the channel close to the island. Alternating between corn and pellet hook baits down his inside lines, Steve was able to find carp willing to feed in numbers, including some large bonus fish. Steve ended the match offering 89-06-00 to the scales to confirm a narrow victory.
Finishing close in second place from peg 8 was Mark Hone. Mark caught steadily throughout the match on pole and pellet in the margins to weigh in 86-12-00, but perhaps should have won the match had it not have been with an unfortunate mishap with his nets, which saw them fall in the water off his box moments before the weigh in started. Unlucky Mark!
Rounding off a competitive top three on the day was Jeff Rush. Jeff drew unfancied peg 18 but pulled it out the bag fishing pellet and corn down his right hand edge to weigh in a superb 84-09-00 from what can be a difficult draw.
