Saturday 14th December marked the conclusion of the 2024 Woodside Winter League series with local man Dan Bache being crowned Champion at the end of the six rounds.
The series, which started back in October, saw thirteen (13) anglers go head to head across Woodside and Island pools competing for an overall top five pay out totalling nearly £1,000.
The former Maver (UK) sponsored angler was quick to make his mark winning the opening round with what turned out to be one of the largest individual weights of the competition before going on to drop just four points over the remaining five rounds.
Despite Dan's incredible run of form, the end result was far from clear cut and went down to the wire with nothing separating Dan from second placed man Josh Gaunt heading into the final round. However, Dan's incredible run of form was backed up with an equally impressive total cumulative weight, which seated Josh firmly in second place.
All in all, it was a closely contested event with anglers jostling for position right until the final whistle on the final round.
Congratulations to Dan Bache on being crowned our first ever winter league Champion.
