Open Match, Island Pool

Thirteen (13) anglers braved what was forecast to be a pretty wet and miserable outing for this latest open match held on Island pool. Conditions the day before had been quite mild with plenty of sunshine bringing the fish up in the water. However, torrential rain overnight meant that match conditions were a struggle.

Winner on the day was Pete Waters from peg 1. Fishing pellet and maggot to depth short and down his edge, Pete was able to find carp in numbers to weigh in a superb 89-05-00 and run away with the £75 first place prize.

Finishing in second place was Warren Jennings. Warren drew fancied peg 17 round the back of the smaller of the two islands - an area not normally in on matches - and one that had been solid with fish the day before! However, it wasn't to be with many of Warren's fish coming late on from down his edge to corn and pellet. Warren ended the day with 38-13-00.

Third place was awarded to local rod Max Galazewski from peg 3. Starting his match fishing pole and pellet long, Max got off to a reasonable start but then lost the fish before finding small carp willing to have a munch on his corn hookbait late down his right hand edge to end proceedings with 36-10-00.
