Open Match, Woodside Pool

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

A decent turnout saw ten (10) anglers brave what was a horrendous morning with monsoon-like conditions. Torrential rain had lashed the complex since the early hours stopping just moments before the draw. Unfortunately, the rain made for a difficult days fishing for most despite the weather drying up and the sun making an appearance.

Winner on the day was Mick Jones, who drew peg 14 on the dam wall. Like most, Mick struggled for most of the match, but enjoyed a frantic final hour with all of his fish coming to maggot fished down his edge. Mick offered 53-13-00 of quality carp to the scales, but was knocked back to 50lbs having gone over the net limit.

Second place was taken by Brian Freeth on peg 3. Brian started his match fishing wafter over fishery micros tight to the island to find a few early fish before they carp backed off. Later, Brian found some fish down his edge on maggot fished over groundbait to weigh in 35-11-00.

Rounding off the top three finish was Max Galaszewski from peg 9. Max started his match fishing pellet on the long pole before having a look on his short line with corn and pellet to end proceedings with 27-10-00 of carp and silvers.
