Torrential rain greeted anglers for the third round of the Woodside Silvers League, which resulted in a difficult days fishing for most. Carp were, once again, also an issue with all but one angler being plagued by big fish in among catching the target silvers.
Winner on the day, and recording his first win of the series to date, was Dan Hart. Dan drew peg 21 and opted to fish maggot up in the water for most of the day on his short line to find good-stamp roach and skimmer bream. Dan put a well earned 22-06-00 on the scales at the end of the five hours, including a nice perch just over 2lb, which meant he picked up the optional pools on the day as well to boot.
Second place went to league leader, Max Galaszewski. Max drew peg 16 and opted to fish caster on the deck at approximately eight metres to find some nice roach and skimmers to end the match with 16-13-00.
Third place was shared between Jeff Rush and Josh Sutterby, both of whom weighed in 10lbs exactly. Jeff managed to draw the same peg he fished on round one (peg 1) and caught on maggot short, but was plagued by big carp. Josh caught on maggot short from opposite peg 14 finding roach and skimmers.

LEAGUE STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 3
So, at the midway stage of the competition, local man Max Galaszewski maintains a very slender lead over Dan Hart who, after victory on this latest round, is just 14oz shy of the league lead.
Josh Gaunt concedes a place slipping to third place overall after a tough third round outting as does Jeff Rush, who also struggled to find the silvers among the carp.
The remainder of the league table sees no other movement in terms of overall placings, but the differential between 4th & 5th and 5th & 6th is a little greater than it was, but still remains close.
Round four takes place on Saturday 18th November on the Island pool.
