A small turnout of just six (6) anglers attended this Sunday club match for Tight Lines on Woodside pool. Conditions on the day were a marked improvement over the Saturday with sunny spells in between the cloud cover. There were a few very heavy showers in the afternoon, but they did little to dampen some excellent weights again.
Winner on the day was Darren Davis. Darren drew peg 3, which normally has some form, but no one (including himself) could've foreseen the sheer number and quality of fish present in his peg. Fishing paste over fishery micro pellets for the duration, Darren was into quality fish from the off and managed to keep fish coming to the net for the majority of the match to offer a massive 208-10-00 to the scales at the end of the five hours. Darren not only dominated the match on the day, but also set a brand new match record in the process!
Finishing in second place was Dave Greybanks, who drew peg 15 on the dam wall. Like Darren, Dave opted to fish paste over fishery micro pellet down his edge finding quality fish in numbers. Unfortunately for Dave, however, he went over the allowed net limit in one of his carp nets, which resulted in the net being disqualified costing him over 60lb towards his final weight. Despite this setback, Dave still managed to weigh in 89-04-00 to finish ahead of Kevin Davis.
Kevin drew neighbouring peg 13 and also opted to fish paste over fishery micros to find quality roach and skimmers, plus a decent number of carp, to confirm a weight of 60-08-00.
